Hi Gill, you seem to be settling in and tasting the local wine and food, very important ! Have missed you at Golborne. Lynne moves to Pennygate next week, don’t know for how long, staffing levels are —- !!!
I have 7 weeks to go, and feeling a little tearful at times. I have got a job in a BUPA nursing home as an RGN, 30 hours per week. Sounds like a doddle compared to here. Very relaxed, beautiful old building in lovely grounds. No KSF, failed access visits or arguing about whether they are housebound or not ! I was interviewed by the Regional Manager, and she told me I had the job before I left. Did my medicheck and CRB on the spot, ordered my uniforms, and my ID badge, so they must be confident they won’t see my face on crimewatch, and that my referees are not going to black list me ! The home is 3.5 miles from Nigels, in a quaint oldy worldy village, and the locals get very involved with the homes activities. I can’t wait Gill. New chapter, but still a little scary after 30 years in one job.
My youngest kitten Benji, was knocked down and killed 2 weeks ago. It has hit me hard, and Lewis too. William, my other cat is lost, and not eating very well. I suppose it will take time. I am surprised he didn’t get knocked down, he is always crossing the road, a risk you take, but still sad when it happens. Glad Xena is with you now, hope she is settling and bet she loves the beach.
Lucy has had a baby girl, named Phoebe, 8lb 10ozs–ouch !! I have spoken to her, she had a bit of a tough time, but fine now. She has a mop of auburn hair, I will go to see her soon.
Booked a cruise around the Med today, to use up my remaining hols. Got a good deal through RBS. We go on 29th June, so that leaves 3 staff on duty !! What can I do, I have to have them before I leave, and time is running out for me ! The girls will be looking for other jobs I suspect. Nigels mum is quite stable at the moment, which is why we felt able to book a holiday. She is quite animated when we visit, what a turnaround. We were convinced she wwas going to die in Feb.
Good luck with job hunting, you will be snatched up if they have any sense. I will give you a reference if you need me to.
We hope to go to New York in Nov / Dec, and meet up with my Aussie friends who will be there. I have been before when I was about 14, with Mum and Dad, and the empire state building was the tallest building. I have walked around the statue of liberty’s crown, when you were allowed to do that, and been under Niagara Falls in a sowester and a boat !
Take care Gill, hope you all keep well, and hope to hear from you soon. I am on my own tonight, Saturday night, Nigel is in Brum cos I am working this weekend, so came straight from his house to work this AM.
Love Sue xx

Hi Gill. Hope all is well in Oz- you’re probably not missing much from Blighty! We had a good comedy moment walking the dogs yesterday morning when Karen flung Katie’s ball out of the ball chucker and took out a pigeon in the park! This morning Margaret and I walked the dogs over the cut grass. She’s walking Ben as well because Kath has a stinking cold. Anyway, he came home with green feet. “Oh, B. Hell,” said Margaret. “Kath will go spare when she sees them.” What Kath actually did was to point at his feet, crack up laughing, and call him “Shrek.” Poor Ben!
Hope you have settled in well in your new home. You’ve probably done the best thing really, because the way this country is going, we’ll all be jumping ship one way or another sooner or later.
Take care of yourselves and give Zena a big hug for me!
Sylvia 🙂
